hebrew hevruta program
"Hevruta" is the Hebrew phrase for partnership learning, which is the primary way that Jewish people have engaged with texts for thousands of year.
In this program, two or three students will work with a tutor to gain Hebrew skills. Our Hevruta program begins with decoding skills and then moves on to prayer and vocabulary-building. The Torah School Director will match children based on their Hebrew level and on their schedules.
These 35-minute sessions happen outside of the Torah School time-block, generally before or after Torah School. Students are expected to practice during the week to reinforce learning.
Hebrew Hevruta happens at an additional cost, but no family is turned away on account of inability to pay. If you have financial concerns related to Hebrew Hevruta, please speak to the Torah School Director or the Rabbi.
Our Hevruta program is open to students in 2nd grade and above. Students are expected to enroll in Hevruta by 5th grade.
