Q: Where do I find a schedule of
Kol Tzedek High Holiday services? Q: Do I have to be a member of
Kol Tzedek to attend High Holiday services? Q: Do I need to register to attend?A: While we will not turn you away at the door, we do ask that you register for High Holiday services. It is helpful for us to be able to set up the space properly and anticipate who will be attending. Please register here: : https://sites.google.com/a/kol-tzedek.org/kt/home/services/high-holidays-registration-form Q: What can I expect from Kol Tzedek’s High Holiday Services? A: Kol Tzedek services are done mostly in Hebrew, with a strong focus on communal singing. We additionally have devotional readings in English, kavannot (interpretations) from our rabbi, and opportunities for reflection and conversation. Our torah services involve group aliyot, so people will have the opportunity to have an honor to the torah in honor of a special moment in their lives or goal for the holidays. We use the Kol HaNeshama Machzor (High Holiday prayerbook) which has the traditional text, some transliteration, and wonderful readings and notes under the line. We have an additional supplement with transliterations and readings.
Q: As a non-member, how do I register? Q: Is there a break fast or should I make other plans? A: Kol Tzedek hosts a tasty break-the-fast
following the final prayers on Yom Kippur. You are more than welcome to join
but please do register so we know how many people to expect! https://sites.google.com/a/kol-tzedek.org/kt/home/services/high-holidays-registration-form Q: What do children do during
High Holiday services?
Q: Can I join the communal meals even if I am not a member? A: Absolutely! We encourage you to bring food to share for our potluck vegetarian lunch for Rosh HaShanah Day 1. As well, we have a potluck picnic lunch at Bartram’s Garden on Second Day Rosh HaShanah (at 1:30) before Tashlich, the ceremony by the waters. The breakfast on Yom Kippur is catered. We encourage you to bring each time your own plate and silverware so we can keep our carbon footprint low. If you forget, there will be disposable plates and forks available.
