ANNOUNCING ADULT AND YOUNG ADULT EDUCATION AT KOL TZEDEK

In General:  Nina Huizinga teaches these classes.  You can reach her by email at huizinga.nina@yahoo.com or call her at (215) 528-6130.  The classes are taught at Nina's home, 4609 Spruce Street.  Cost for tuition for 10 sessions is $36 for Kol Tzedek members and $60 for non-members paid to Kol Tzedek.  Cost for books varies and is paid to Nina. 

 

Open Meeting About Adult Education:  On Thursday, October 1, 2009 come to 4609 Spruce Street at 7 p.m.  You do not need to register: just come.  Meet Nina, look at the books and other materials, decide on which class you want to be in, and decide on your schedule starting the week of October 5, 2009.

 

List of Classes: 

 

1.  Introduction to Judaism and Jewish culture for Young Women, Jewish and Non-Jewish, Ages 12-13.  This year-long class will meet as often as the women in the class decide they want to meet.  We will visit different Jewish synagogues in the Philadelphia area, look at Jewish art, listen to Jewish music, see Jewish films, read Jewish books, visit Jewish museums, cook (and eat!) Jewish food, celebrate Jewish holidays, learn Jewish history, learn different ways Jewish people have thought about G-d, go to see a Jewish play, and have a lot of fun.  What we do exactly will depend on what happens to be available in the Philadelphia area (maybe even trips to NYC or DC together with parents) and what the young women decide they want to do.  Cost: $60 tuition for the whole year (incredibly cheap!) plus any travel and ticket costs.

 

2.  Beginning Hebrew for Adults.  This class is for adults who want to learn the Hebrew letters and vowels.  The class meets once a week for 10 weeks.  Cost of tuition is listed above.  The book costs $15.

 

3.  Beginning Hebrew Grammar and Vocabulary.  This class is for adults who know the Hebrew letters and vowels and want to learn grammar and vocabulary.  The class meets once a week for a year.  Cost of tuition is listed above.  The book costs $30.

 

4.  Biblical Primer of Hebrew Grammar and Vocabulary.  This class is more advanced.  It meets once a week for a year.  Cost of tuition is listed above.   The Primer and Answer Book costs $50.  Once you complete this book, you can continue with a book of 18 Biblical Readings.
