Zoe Cohen's Sacred Origins- An Interfaith Art Project for West Philadelphia Opening Reception: Sunday May 31st, 5-7 pm
With an artist's talk at 6 pm, The Philadelphia Cathedral 38th and Chestnut Streets, Philadelphia
For the conclusion of my year-long residency at The Philadelphia
Cathedral, I am presenting a 5 ft x 5 ft mixed media artwork that
reflects the diverse and interconnected faith traditions of West
Philadelphia. I collected over 40 drawings from people of
various faith backgrounds, and incorporated them into the artwork along
with my own imagery. The finished piece includes a number of drawings from the Kol Tzedek community! The finished piece will be permanently installed in the Cathedral... but you get to see it first! With food and drink!
I'll be giving a brief talk about the project and the product at 6 pm.
--------------
Congregational Meeting, Sunday morning, June 7 47th and Pine, Garden Court. 10:30-2 pm.
------------- LGBT Programming Brainstorm Interested in having more LGBT programming at Kol Tzedek? We'd like to
gather people who have ideas and/or are willing to help in some way
throughout the year, to talk about what events we'd like to have.
Events could be educational, cultural, or social. This doesn't mean
joining a committee, just coming to one gathering to brainstorm ideas
and see how we can make them happen. Please contact Karen if you are
interested - karenkohn00@hotmail.com.
Community Dialogues about the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Would you like to have a constructive, respectful conversation with
people whose views about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are different
from yours -- without arguing or debating? Are you interested in
talking about your experiences, feelings, ideas, convictions, and
questions in an environment that promotes respect and mutual learning?
The Jewish Dialogue Group is inviting Jews of all perspectives and
backgrounds to their introductory community dialogues this spring. They
have
facilitated 2 dialogues at Kol Tzedek over the past few years, and
welcome people associated with KT to come to these cross-community
dialogues as well.
They are planning three dialogues in West Philly and other parts of
Philadelphia, on weekday evenings o r Sundays in May and June. Exact
dates and times will depend on the participants' availability. To read
more or to register, please visit: http://jewishdialogue.org/spring09philly.html
