Kol Tzedek Torah School

KTTS+ After school Program

Kol Tzedek Torah School (KTTS) is a Reconstructionist Torah School rooted in Judaism as a living tradition and justice as a guiding value. In our diverse and inclusive community, students learn Jewish history, text, and culture. We engage the whole student through creative projects, interactive lessons, and group discussions. Our curriculum places an emphasis on developing Jewish identity and relating to Jewish social justice. Through our dynamic program, our students recognize connections with Jewish tradition in their daily lives. We work to create an environment that empowers students to bring their full selves and all their passions to the conversation.

The 5783/2022-2023 school year begins on September 11, 2022 and ends on May 7, 2023. We are planning to meet in person at the Sadie Alexander School (4209 Spruce St).

Classes will meet from 3:15-5:30pm on Sunday afternoons. The schedule is subject to change based on COVID precautions and best practices, particularly if we need to cohort or further limit the number of people in the space.

Grades K-2 are meeting in grade-level classes. Grades 3-7 will spend half of their time with their grade level and half of their time in mixed-age elective groups.

Hebrew Hevruta is how we teach Hebrew reading at Kol Tzedek! Students work in groups of 2-3 with a teacher for 35 minutes. Families can opt-in at any time beginning in 1st grade. Students who plan to have a typical Kol Tzedek B'nei Mitzvah should begin Hebrew Hevruta by 5th grade. 7th graders typically don't do Hebrew Hevruta because they are working with their B'nei Mitzvah tutor.

Hebrew Hevruta groups will meet on Sundays at 2:30pm, Sundays at 5:40pm, or on Monday afternoons. If your child is enrolled in Hevruta on Sundays, they will be assigned a time. Every effort will be made to match siblings' schedules and to allow our younger learners to meet during the earlier time.

We are excited for our second year of KTTS+, a weekly afterschool program to supplement Sunday's Torah School learning. KTTS+ is for Torah School students in grades K-4 and meets on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-6:00pm at the KT office (707 S 50th St). This enrichment program is an opportunity for kids to engage with Hebrew, prayers, and Jewish text in a mixed-age cohort. There is a limited number of spaces for this program, which will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. While we are not able to provide transportation from local schools, we are happy to help you coordinate with other families.
